Introduction

Law firms are increasingly adopting legal generative AI tools, yet they often have to adapt their processes to fit the tools rather than the other way around. The current generative AI platforms do not allow for easy task switching within a single case, frequently limiting collaboration and the amount of information a user can upload. This leads to inefficiencies and a fragmented workflow that can result in errors and detract from client-focused and strategic legal work - diminishing the overall impact of the ground-breaking AI technology.

That is why today we are excited to release "Matter-Based Collaboration with Eve'', designed to address the challenges law firms have in using “standard” generative AI tools. We introduce organization and collaboration features that tie Eve into the workflow of a firm in an intuitive and seamless way.

Legal Process and Generative AI - Mismatched

Over the lifecycle of a single case, attorneys and support staff often work on many different, smaller tasks - from case evaluations to propounding discovery and drafting motions. With the current state of generative AI platforms there is no way to switch tasks/focus while working on a single project. The current process involves users opening a new tab, re-uploading key case information and asking their questions (alternatively, deleting the history of their interaction and losing prior answers but keeping their files). This wastes time, is an organizational nightmare, and prevents teams from cohesively collaborating on a single case.

Although generative AI is creating significant time-savings in the legal field, the standard process of disjointed chats increases inefficiency in casework. Legal professionals already spend a considerable amount of time on administrative tasks, such as document organization and case tracking, which diverts attention from client service and strategic case work. This is one of the many hurdles before law firms as they aim to scale their operations and grow revenue.

Introducing Matter-Based Collaboration with Eve

This release enables users to have a deeper collaboration with Eve on all parts of their case work, minimizing the inefficiency in working through case related tasks.

Work with Eve is now centralized into a unified matter home, offering a streamlined workflow that fosters collaboration, allowing multiple users to contribute to a case simultaneously with full transparency. The feature also supports the analysis of extensive case-related documents, accommodating up to 10,000 pages and 1,000 documents, which significantly reduces the time spent managing and navigating through information across the platform. Moreover, it allows for seamless transitions between different case-related activities within the same matter, saving time and maintaining continuity, enabling attorneys to concentrate on the substance of their cases rather than on administrative logistics. This re-designed approach is tailored specifically for legal professionals, aligning with how they work on cases and fitting into existing processes and workflows with ease.

Business Impact

The introduction of Matter-Based Collaboration with Eve marks a significant leap forward in addressing the operational challenges faced by law firms and how they leverage generative AI. By enabling a more cohesive and efficient approach to handling case-related tasks, we  empower legal teams to scale their firms, increase the number of cases they can take on, and deliver better work on better cases, all without the need for additional staff or process redesigns. The streamlined workflow allows attorneys to dedicate more time to strategic case work and client service, ultimately enhancing the firm's overall productivity and competitive edge in the legal marketplace.

Stay Tuned!

Stay tuned as Eve continues to grow and deliver more customer-informed and legal-specific features and improvements that help law firms and legal teams get the most from their generative AI.
